Eiffel tower (FR. tour Eiffel, IPA (FR.): [tu.ʁ‿R.fɛl]) — metal tower in the center of Paris, the most recognizable architectural landmark. Named in honor of chief designer Gustave Eiffel; Eiffel himself called it simply the "300-meter tower" (tour de 300 mètres).
